Proxy Servers are functions that are commonly combined with firewalls and used to to access internet web pages by the other computers. Proxy servers provides resources either by connecting to the specified server or by serving it from a cache. In some cases, the proxy may alter the client’s request or the server’s response for various purposes. A proxy server also shares one internet connection within all the computers on your local network or it is a computer that offers a computer network service to allow. Typically there are several different types of Proxy Servers that are available, these however are the most commonly utilized:
Anonymous Proxy Servers
Anonymous Proxy Servers are also known as an internet or web proxy that attempts to create anonymity when surfing the web by hiding the original IP address of the end user. An anonymous proxy server is a special kind of proxy loaded with software that erases your IP address from any page requests and substitutes its own. When the page is sent back by the Web server, the proxy server then forwards it along to you free of any additional software scripts that might compromise your identity.
Distorting Proxy Servers
Distorting Proxy Servers hide your IP address or at least modify your IP address to at least attempt it in some way to prevent target server know about it. They may provide or may hide information about you and your reading interests. Distorting Proxy Servers can be used for all kinds of Web-services to speed up data transfers and to keep your privacy.
High Anonymity ProxyServers
High Anonymity ProxyServer will never does not identify itself as a proxy server and does not make available the original IP address. High anonymity proxies, only include the REMOTE_ADDR header with the IP address of the proxy server, making it appear that the proxy server is the client. High Anonymity Proxy Servers do not provide anyone with your IP address and effectively hide any information about you and your reading interests.
Intercepting Proxy Servers
Intercepting Proxy Servers are also known as transparent proxy servers and they’re designed as a proxy server combined with a gateway. Anytime a connection is made by client browsers through the gateway are redirected through the proxy without client-side configuration. Intercepting or transparent proxy servers usually detectable by examining the HTTP headers on the server side.
Reverse Proxy
A Reverse Proxy is technically defined as being a proxy server, however it does not enforce any local policies. Reverse Proxy’s are commonly used to pass requests through the Internet, through a firewall isolated by private networks. Reverse Proxy Servers are sed to prevent Internet clients from having direct, unmonitored access to sensitive data residing on content on isolate servers.
