Sorry, do I know you?

It feels like we’ve got off on the wrong foot. I haven’t even introduced myself and I’m already bombarding you with updates. Let’s start a fresh:

Hi. I’m Devon. For the past 5 years I have been heavily involved in creating a new youth and community centre in Scarborough, UK (home). Last year, I began working for an organisation called Seachange who support social enterprises and charities in our area.

Whilst being part of this project and working for Seachange I have been able to see how organisations use technology in their workplace. It seems a shame that in today’s world, where technology is so easily accessible and affordable, businesses are still left “in the dark” when it comes to using it successfully.

I was quite shocked when I first found out about the neglect of certain technologies at work. Most notably social media. Which, over the past decade has become very user friendly and also a big benefit to businesses.

Being young, I was always the go-to-guy for anything that came with a user manual. That’s not to say I actually read them ;) but I’m naturally inquisitive of anything new.

Through talking to the people at these businesses I found a problem that many of them shared: getting help costs – a lot! So I began to think of ways I could help organizations whilst giving them the skills to do it themselves.

That’s where ProTelp comes in!

With this site I aim to:

  • Reach as many UK and International small businesses, organisations and charities as possible.
  • Provide easy to understand and informative articles on technology in the workplace.
  • Give businesses a voice about what they really need help with. Not what big IT companies tell them.
